About Us
Evidence Synthesis (ES) @CRSU is an expert team of specialists and researchers, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), focussed on tackling complex health and social care issues by providing high-quality, research-based evidence.
The group is a collaboration between Cochrane and the Universities of Glasgow, Leicester and York, and is led by Glasgow's Professor Olivia Wu, William R Lindsay Chair of Health Economics at Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) research group, and Director of NIHR’s National Research Collaboration Programme (NRCP) and Better Methods, Better Research (BMBR) Programme.
NIHR has recently awarded ES @CRSU a further £2.5m to continue supporting healthcare decision-making across the four UK nations. This follows the success of the initial investments made by NIHR of over £2 million pounds.
Alongside ES, CRSU has a dedicated App team who have developed – and continue to develop - a suite of innovative web-based applications to support evidence synthesis.
What is Evidence Synthesis, and why is it important?
Evidence synthesis is a research method that collects information from multiple studies on the same topic, ensuring policymakers and practitioners have the best available information on that subject. In collaboration with our public contributors and their experiences, we expertly evaluate and combine data from existing research, ES@CRSU provide comprehensive insights that drive impactful decision-making and enhance healthcare outcomes.
The CRSU Evidence Synthesis Group is one of the evidence synthesis groups funded by the NIHR Evidence Synthesis Programme.
