U18 International Student Classes
Series Description: We run a bespoke series of lectures and workshops for new international students under the age of 18 years to support their transition to study at the University of Glasgow and enhance their academic development.
Topics covered include:
- Transitioning into academic study at university (e.g. what does it mean to be a university student and expectations of university students)
- Time management
- Academic integrity (how to understand and avoid plagiarism)
- Academic writing
- Academic reading
Target Audience: These classes are only for international students under the age of 18. If you are eligible for this programme, you will receive an email with further details.
These classes will return in Semester 1 of 2026/27.

| Academic Integrity, Avoiding Plagiarism, and Artificial Intelligence | Explains the definitions of plagiarism at the University of Glasgow and how to avoid plagiarism as well as looking at some do's and don'ts for AI in academic work. |
| Linguistic Features of Academic Writing | Explains how to use key linguistic features to enhance your academic writing's structure, flow, and argument. |
| Time Management at University: Balancing Life and Learning | Developing skills to effectively plan your time to complete assignments and study effectively while maintaining work-life balance. |
| An Introduction to Essay-Writing at University | Setting yourself up for success when getting started with university essay writing, covering topics such as planning, structure, and argument. |
| Effecitve Intercultural Group Work Skills | Develops key skills for communicating in university contexts, enabling you to feel more confident in class discussions and when conversing with academic staff. Develops intercultural skills for effective collaboration at university and enhances skills for employability. |
