MVLS PGR Careers Workshops: Explore, Plan and Prepare - Register Today

The MVLS Graduate School is pleased to highlight a series of forthcoming careers workshops designed specifically for our PGR research students.  Delivered by careers specialist Jess Henderson, Student Professional Development Manager (Student Careers, Employability & Opportunity team), these sessions will support postgraduate researchers at any stage of their studies to reflect on their professional development, explore potential career pathways, and take proactive steps towards their next career stage.

Planning ahead now can help you make informed decisions, build confidence, and position yourself strongly for future opportunities. These interactive workshops will provide valuable insight, practical tools, and expert guidance. 1) Careers awareness and development: Explore options and requirements

This workshop focuses on tools, strategies and resources to explore potential career options, sectors and possibilities for MVLS PhDs, whether in Research or other careers. We will also explore the skills employers might be looking for and start to consider how you can best present yourself for opportunities of interest.

2) Managing transitions: Job searching and application skills

This workshop focuses on successful job search strategies and how to translate your skills, knowledge and experiences into persuasive applications.  It will provide an opportunity for you to ‘be the recruiter’ to experience applications from a recruiter's perspective.

Our Careers team deliver a series of 19 masterclasses covering core topics including application writing, CV development and wider career planning.  There is a mix of in-person and online sessions, giving you the flexibility to join in a way that works best for you.  Live sessions provide you with the opportunity to ask questions and receive immediate feedback.  Recordings are available if you prefer to learn at your own pace or revisit the material later.  You can explore the full masterclass series at the link below.
