Area Studies Research Cluster

The Area Studies cluster brings together researchers in Politics and International Relations and in Central and East European Studies.  Collectively our strengths are in the politics of China and Russia, Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and Latin America.  We lead three collaborative, interdisciplinary research centres and two networks.

The Centre for Russian, Central and East European Studies

CRCEES brings together specialists in a wide variety of research areas within the Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities, who have the requisite knowledge for understanding the legacies and problems of the post-communist world, and who are acquainted with the principal theoretical frameworks relevant to this region

The Glasgow Baltic Research Unit (GBRU) was established in January 2003, building on a longstanding tradition of Baltic research at the University of Glasgow

EUROPE-ASIA STUDIES

Established in 1949, Europe-Asia Studies is the principal academic journal in the world focusing on history and current political, social and economic affairs of the countries of the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and Asia.

With its home in Central and East European Studies, its Editorial Board includes members from Politics and International Relations.
