REF2021 Results

Politics and International Studies (P&IS) at the University of Glasgow comprises researchers from Politics and International Relations, Central and East European Studies and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies. Our mission is to conduct innovative, high-quality research that has academic and real-world impact locally, nationally and internationally. We are delighted that in REF2021 90% of our research has been evaluated overall as ‘world-leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.

Impact of UofG Research

The Politics and International Studies REF2021 submission comprised staff from Politics & International Relations, Central & East European Studies and the School of Interdisciplinary Studies. 

Together, we conduct innovative research with academic and real-world impact. Our research and knowledge exchange activities aim to influence debates, inform policy development and shape the work of governmental organisations, locally, nationally and internationally.

We aim to provide an inclusive, supportive environment that enables all staff to flourish. We try to make Politics and International Studies a warm and welcoming place to work.

We build capacity for research and impact through local, national and international collaborations, partnerships and networks. These bring valuable research skills, knowledge and perspectives, as well as access to major datasets, new research users and a wider range of partner organisations. 

Future of Research at Glasgow

Glasgow's distinguished history of teaching politics began in the 1760s, when Adam Smith gave a series of lectures on justice, police, revenue and arms at the University. Today we are a leading centre for Politics & International Relations in the UK.
