Ms Marie McQuade

Biography

 

I am Head of the Educational Leadership and Policy Research and Teaching Group within the School of Education. I am also a lecturer in Childhood Practice at the University of Glasgow and Programme Convener for the BA Childhood Practice. My areas of interest include educational leadership, policy development and mentoring for leaders. 

I have over 20 years of professional experience in policy, practice, and leadership, including developing and delivering government initiatives across multiple sectors. I also bring extensive hands-on experience in early childhood education and care (ECEC), working across diverse services and settings to design, manage, and evaluate projects that improve outcomes for children and families. I have delivered leadership-focused professional learning and training and contributed to the third sector, influencing policy and practice to support service improvement and sector development.

Research interests

Current research interests include:
- mentoring and leadership development within the childhood practice context;

- widening participation in higher education;

- academic skills development,

- education and care policy;

- and, screen education in the early years.
