Your Contract and Right to Work Permissions
Before commencing employment, there are a number of key activities all new joiners must undertake - details of each can be found below:
Sign and return your contract
- Following your conditional offer of employment, you will receive your offer contract / written particulars of terms and conditions of employment applicable to your employment.
- Sign and return to the Onboarding Team to enable salary payment.
- Your acceptance must be returned within seven days.
Complete your Right to Work Check
- It is a legal requirement that the University completes a right to work check for all employees, before they commence employment.
- Once you have returned your contract, a member of the Onobarding Team will contact you to organise your Right to Work Check. Please note if you have a UK or Irish passport you will be required to come to Berkeley Square (99 Berkeley Street, Glasgow, G3 7HR) to carry out a face-to-face check. This is a UKVI regulation, for further information please visit: Right to work checks: an employer's guide - GOV.UK
- Your documentation will be securely retained for audit purposes.
Supply education certificates
- In addition, if applicable, please bring along your original qualification / degree certificates for verification.
It’s important to note that if the University has not been able to conduct a right to work check, prior to your employment, this could delay your start date and your contract of employment may have to be amended.
